Drones can be used to fight ISIS

Although the United States, Russia, as well as other countries, want to use modern aircraft more often, Ukraine lacks the resources necessary to train its troops on these aircraft. Although the Ukrainians have received training in Western countries such as Germany on vehicles and aircraft, they cannot receive the same training in Ukraine on drones. Because Ukrainians have grown up using older equipment, such as trucks, drones are easier for them. Drones can be operated by soldiers without the need for pilots. Drones also have an easy to use interface, much like those found in video games.

Aerorozvidka

Ukrainian military uses unique tactics to defeat ISIS in the east: octocopters fitted with thermal cameras that can carry out nighttime missions. Some drones have anti-tank weapons, and can light up columns. These drones are highly maneuverable and can carry as much as 11 lbs of payload. Because they are small, drones can be flown low and over targets to drop munitions.

Originally an IT enthusiast group, Aerorozvidka has become a military air reconnaissance unit. The organization's first mission was as a civilian drone company, but over time, it evolved into a full-fledged unit with its own head. Because of export control, the Ukrainian government prevented Russian military planes from entering the country. Aerorozvidka depends on crowdfunding and donations to keep the company afloat, as many of the drone components are made in the USA.

Switchblade

The U.S. military is supplying Ukraine with armed "Switchblade" drones, which are able to strike Russian tanks from miles away. The US Air Force developed these unmanned aerial vehicles in response to Ukrainian needs. John Kirby from the Pentagon stated that over 121 of these machines were being sent to Ukraine. However, there are no details on how the Switchblades might be used in the conflict in Ukraine.

The Switchblade drone is small and easy to launch from a tube. It has a range 40 km. Unlike Bayraktar drones, the Switchblade can hit a Russian convoy from 6 miles away. These small aircraft can be assembled in minutes during a conflict like that of Ukraine. The Switchblade can fly much faster than the Bayraktar (current U.S. ally).

Russian kamikaze drones

Recently, the US announced that it would provide $800 million in military assistance to Ukraine. The delivery of 121 unmanned aircraft called "Phoenix Ghosts", which is intended to terrorize Russian forces, is part of the package. These unmanned aircraft are designed to fly over large areas for between 30 and 40 minutes. They are equipped both with warheads as well as cameras. Switchblade is one such drone. It's a hovering munition measuring 5.5 pounds, and it can eliminate armored vehicles as well as tanks.

These lightweight, small aircrafts can be operated from land, sea, and air thanks to their powerful, low-flying, gimbal. A conflict like this is where every advantage one side has over the other in an aerial battle is critical. Russian kamikaze helicopters are a direct threat. This capability will prove to be critical for Ukraine's defense, since it can break Russian sieges as well as attack command-and-control centers. While such capabilities would be a major liability for both sides, if a small drone can make a difference on the battlefield, Ukraine could emerge as the victor.

U.S. loitering drones

Russia is integrating ZALA KYB loitering weapons into its military arsenal. These drones have the ability to use deadly loitering munition in the style of bazookas. These autonomous killing devices could spread to black markets through the use of loitering robots. However, observers and pundits worry about this. So what can the U.S. Do to prevent this?

Kirby says that more than 121 Switchblade drones have been sent by the U.S. to Ukraine to assist Kiev in fighting Russian forces. The Switchblade drone can hover in a given area for between 30 and 40 minutes. It weighs in at 5.5 pounds. It is fitted with a camera and a small warhead. Its mission is to eliminate the opposition forces within Ukraine.

FAQ

What US states do drones are legal in?

Legally, you can operate a drone to perform hobby tasks. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has issued guidelines that allow you to use small unmanned aircraft systems (UASs). These UASs must be registered with the FAA before they can be flown. If certain conditions are met the FAA will allow commercial operators to fly these drones.

Where can I find a drone for sale?

Many different drones are available online. Many people prefer to buy their drones online through Amazon, eBay or Walmart. Others choose to purchase their drones directly from manufacturers.

Is it necessary to have special training in order to fly a drone

No, you don’t have to learn any special skills in order for your drone to fly. You only need a remote controller unit and basic knowledge about flight mechanics.

What is the difference of a quadcopter and an hexacopter, you ask?

A quadcopter is an four-rotor helicopter which flies in the same manner as a conventional helicopter. It has four rotors that rotate independently. The hexacopter can be described as a quadcopter but has six rotors, instead of the usual four. Hexacopters offer more maneuverability and stability than quadcopters.
