French government is testing a new type and design of drone. Diodon is a drone that can be used to conduct reconnaissance, patrolling and engagement missions against criminal or hostile targets. Benjamin Briere, a French drone pilot was recently arrested by the French government. Briere flew the drone near Iran-Turkmenistan's border. Safran is also working to develop a glider drone. This type drone would be more efficient at accomplishing its mission (including aerial spotting).

Benjamin Briere was taken into custody after he flew his drone near the Iran/Turkmenistan border

French citizen Benjamin Briere was recently arrested in Iran after he was accused of flying a drone near the Iranian-Turkmenistan border. Briere is being held in isolation and has not been granted a passport. This case has added an extra layer of political tension to the already tense relationship between Iran and Western powers over Iran's nuclear programme. They are currently in Vienna for talks that will salvage an international agreement that would aim to curtail Iran's nuclear activities, and lift economic restrictions.

While France condemned the decision to jail Briere, the Iranian government has been arguing that his conviction is based on slander and propaganda. While Iran repeatedly denied Briere's allegations, the Iranian government claims Briere is being used by the Iranian government as a bargaining chip during nuclear negotiations with America. France has dismissed the eight-year sentence as unfair and unjust.

Safran plans to create a drone capable of flying

Safran and Ministry of Defense signed a new contract with the French military. France will buy fourteen Patroller tactical UAVs. They will go into service in 2018. Jean-Yves Le Drian (defense minister) signed the contract in a Safran factory in Sagem, France. He also met with the chief operating officer of Safran as well as the deputy director at the Direction Generale de l'Armement. The deal is worth EUR300million ($341million) and includes 12 years of maintenance.

While these plans are ambitious, they are a step in the right direction. To begin with, Safran has partnered up with Valeo for joint research into the assisted driving market. They are not competing companies, but they share similar technology needs. Their collaboration will allow them to pool their resources and accelerate the development for products necessary to serve this expanding market. Eventually, other companies, research institutes and innovative small businesses could join the project.

FAQ

Which drone is best for beginners?

How To

How to Fly Drones with Beginners

A drone refers to a remote-controlled aircraft designed for aerial photography, surveillance and scientific research. The technology behind drones has been around since World War II. However, commercial use began in 2010 when DJI released their Phantom series of quadcopters. Many types of drones have been made available since then, from beginner-friendly models such as the Parrot AR Drone 2.0, to high-end multi-rotor craft such as the DJI Mavic Pro.

There are several ways to fly a drone, including;

  1. Remote control – This is when you attach a device to your hand that allows you to control the drone's flight path. There are two main types of controllers: On/Off switches (like a radio) and joysticks.
  2. Manual Control – This method lets users remotely control the drone by using a smartphone app. The app will provide instructions and help you to locate the drone.
  3. Autonomous Flight – This is when the drone handles all the piloting tasks. The drone is able to fly autonomously, without the need for human intervention. To enable autonomous flight, the drone should have a built in camera and sensors capable recording images and data.
  4. Triggered Flight – This method is very similar to manual flight. The pilot creates a route that the drone will follow until it reaches the destination. After the program is complete, the drone automatically returns to the ground.
  5. Landing Gear – Some drones are equipped with landing gear, which allows them to safely land if they lose power during flight.
  6. Goggles – Pilots often wear goggles while flying to keep themselves safe from any debris.
  7. Camera – Some drones have cameras, which allow you to take photos or videos from up high.
  8. Obstacles-Some drones come with obstacle avoidance devices that keep them from hitting obstructions.
  9. Speed - Some drones reach speeds exceeding 40 mph.
  10. Battery Life - Most drones are capable of lasting between 20 minutes and three hours, depending on the power that you use.
  11. Range - Some drones can travel upto 30 miles depending on their models.
  12. Power source - Some drones need an external power source, while others use internal batteries.
  13. Weight - Some drones have a weight of less than 1 pound and others weigh 4 lbs.
  14. Size - Drones come in many sizes, from small gadgets that fit in one's hands to large craft that weigh more than 50 lbs.
  15. Price - High-end drones can go for thousands of dollars, while low-cost models start at $100.
